Team Jacob!

So I try to keep this blog mostly about Jacob or what our family has been up to but I don't think I can help but record my past few nights. For those of you who don't know, yes I'm a Twilight fan! I don't think I'm overboard crazy or anything but I do think it's fun to get excited about the movies and all, especially with friends that are into it too!
So in preparation for the 3rd movie Eclipse (that came out today!) me and 4 other girl friends got together Monday night to watch New Moon together. We had all seen it together when it came out the first day in theaters last November, but it was fun to have another girls night and watch it again together, especially right before Eclipse.
But my friend Jannie and I were the only ones that were "hardcore" enough to go to the midnight showing! We both really wanted to go last year but didn't so that we could all go with our friends the next night, so we decided this time we'd go to the midnight show together! Plus, we figured we might as well go all out and go for the IMAX showing too!
So the two of us got together again yesterday so that we could make T-shirts for the movie too! I promise I'm not crazy, but it is fun to have someone else that's just as excited as I am about the movies. The only kicker though- we're on different teams! She's a loyal Team Edward and I can't resist but be on Team Jacob!
our shirts! just waiting for the paint to dry

So it was fun to represent both teams. Actually as soon as we got our seats, we sat next to a Dad with his son and he asked if we were friends or enemies since we're different teams. And his son chipped in and said he was Team Switzerland! Haha it was cute.
Yea so even though we didn't show up to get in line until 10:30 PM and they didn't let us in the theater until 11:15 we somehow managed the last 2 good seats before we would've had to sit in the front. So we lucked out!
I'll admit I was expecting a little bit more to be going on with the theater or there to be more crazy fans making noise. But either way, Jannie and I had a good time and we were happy just to watch the movie!
And the movie was good! I liked it! I don't want to spoil it for anyone since most haven't seen it yet, but all I want to do is talk to everyone about it and analyze it! After seeing it though I still feel like I liked New Moon more. When I saw New Moon I was like jaw-dropped amazed! And it's not just because I'm a Jacob fan- I love the emotional up and down from Edward leaving her, to being with Jacob, to Jacob leaving her, to the race to get back with Edward, then feeling bad for Jacob- I love all that happens in that movie! And I think the music was better in New Moon too- I feel the music really brought emotion to that movie that this one slightly lacked.
So with Eclipse there was still that emotional struggle between Jacob and Edward that I loved and I feel it did follow the book pretty well. I think it brought out the best of the book for the movie and it helped to see things from others' perspectives besides Bella's. And it was funny too, it seems Jacob had all the funny lines and the audience really rooted for Jacob. Poor Jannie pointed out to me it seems no one roots for Edward anymore, which is a little silly since we all know he's the one that gets the girl! But I think they made the movie that way to make people really like Jacob and almost want to wonder- geez why doesn't Bella pick him?!
Anyways, so yes I did enjoy Eclipse! It is different, more scary and dark for sure, but I still think it was done well. Now the wait for Breaking Dawn is going to be extremely long but I can't wait to see how those two movies come out!
So whenever you see the movie or if you already have let me know what you thought of it!
By the way... Did I mention go Team Jacob?!! :)

And of course I'm Team Jacob Decker too! And no, for the record I did not name him after Jacob Black. He was born after Twilight came out but this was before the big craze over Taylor Lautner happened and I had no idea how popular that name really was going to be. But I always liked the name and I feel a little bad that someday he'll have a whole school classroom full of Jacob's, and Bella's, and maybe even Cullens. Haha, and the craze will live on....!

"Happy Father's Day to me!"

So this year was actually Luke's 2nd Father's Day- as a dad. I had a couple little plans for him from Jacob and I but Luke never wants me to do anything for him on days like this or his birthday. I think more than that he doesn't want me to spend money on him. But I still had some things in mind of just little things we could make for him, and one of those being a nice cake on Sunday.
So then Luke goes to the grocery store on Saturday to pick up a few things and came home with a FREE Father's Day cake! Apparently they made an announcement while he was in Safeway that they would pass out one free cake an hour if you stopped by the bakery. But Luke didn't really care and went to check out and he saw the lady in front of him had a father's day cake. So he asked if she was the winner of the hour and she said that she went to the bakery and they said that no one was coming so they were just handing free cakes to anyone! So she pressured Luke to get out of line and go back to get a cake, and so he did! They asked him what he wanted them to write on the cake, so naturally he had them write "Happy Father's Day To Me!" He came home and was just so proud that he got a cake for free! So much for my plans on making him one!
But Jacob and I did work on a homemade card for Luke. It was fun to have Jacob help this year. He picked out his own sticker and colored all over the card- he loved to draw!

And then we also worked on this little frame for Luke- the idea was for him to put in his office (or new office if he hopefully gets a new job soon!) So we printed Jacob's foot and added a little poem to go along with it.
He seemed to really like his gifts and then we just did a simple lasagna for dinner. And Jacob helped Daddy with his leftovers! Jacob found this left in the kitchen and from the other room I hear him slurping his fingers, yummy!
And I meant to get a picture of Jacob with his Dad but somehow forgot. So here's one of my favorite pictures of the two of them!
Luke loves being a Daddy and loves watching Jacob grow as much as I do. They love to play together and have fun, and I can't wait for them to get even closer as Jacob gets older! Jacob loves his Dad (as do I!) and we are so proud of all that he does for us! Happy Father's Day Luke!

15 months already...

Jacob turned 15 months on Friday! He went to the doctor that day too and Jacob's doing healthy and well! He is actually the exact same percentiles for height and weight from his 12 month visit, but now he's at 19 pounds 5 ounces and 30 1/2 inches tall. It's funny because when I weighed him at home I was sure he made it over the 20 pound hump, but oh well! So he's still 3rd% in weight and 50th% for weight and I imagine he'll stay about that way for awhile.

And I've been happy that Jacob has done really well lately. He's been eating better, keeps a normal good schedule, sleeps through the night, and entirely weaned himself from nursing about a month ago. Even then I was only nursing him about every other morning and when I would feed him he'd get sleepy enough to go back to sleep for a couple more hours. I have a lot of friends actually that get jealous that its completely normal for him to sleep in until 9:30 or 10. His record is actually 11:30am and for awhile typical wake up time was 10-10:30 but he's been waking up "earlier" now, about 9 or so. And he is usually goes to bed by 9:30, so that's why he sleeps in but it seems to work for him and it definetly works for me! I'm glad Jacob likes to sleep in like me ;)

And Jacob's has been picking up even more words in the past few weeks. The doctor seemed impressed when I told him he has about 10-15 words now. They're all pretty simple basic words though. My new favorite is "elmo" but he says it more like "eh-mo"! He loves to watch sesame street for 20 minutes in the morning, and so I'll need to keep an eye out for some more elmo toys and books for him.

So before Jacob's next doctor appointment at 18 months, we'll be working on getting him off the pacifier for naps and night time. And hopefully his stranger anxiety will get better too! He's been babysat a little more lately and has done well but still worries when I leave him. I know it's normal but hopefully that eases up a bit too. But other than that I'm just glad Jacob is healthy and so happy! :)

A New Discovery

Jacob made another little breakthrough the other day that I just had to share! He always loves to kind of poke at my face and so I've been practicing teaching him facial features(eyes, nose, hair, mouth, etc.) Of course he thinks it's funny to poke me while I'm trying to put him to sleep- he'll often try covering my mouth when I sing to him! Or he'll poke my eyes but his little fingernails are so sharp I have to close my eyes but then he tries prying my eyes open! Haha he's a funny one.
Anyway, we had his friend Jane over on Saturday- for the last time before they moved! Still sad about Jacob's best little bud Jane moving, but I won't go into all the reasons why we're so sad they're moving farther away! Anyway, Jacob and Jane were playing and he took a toy and almost hit it towards Jane's eye- luckily he didn't hurt her but I told Jacob to watch out for her eye, or not to hit her eye or something.
So then Jacob walks away, then stops, and says "eye!"- as if like he just made the connection. Then he takes both his pointer fingers and squints and points to both of his eyes! It was funny though because for a few minutes he kept walking around with his eyes closed squinted real tight while he pointed to them and kept repeating "eye!" Haha it was the cutest little thing!

Finally he realized he could just point to the side of his eye without poking it and I was finally able to catch a picture on my phone! Anyway, I know its such a small little thing but I love to see when he is able to discover something new and it makes me feel like he really does listen and learn even at a young age! :)

Memorial Day weekend

Memorial Day weekend was a few weeks ago but I wanted to catch up and post on the few things we did since it's not very often that Luke and I get out and do much!
We started off Saturday morning by going to RedRocks, which I had never been to since we've lived out here and it's just past where Luke works. I really wanted to go up to the Red Rocks and check out the amphitheater but we forgot to do it on our way out. But we went to a little hill nearby to go on our first real hike with Jacob.
So I tried him out in my little backpack and he was ok for awhile but I think he couldn't see very well or something because it didn't take too long for him to start fussing. So halfway up Luke just carried him, and finally we just stopped so Jacob could get down to play and have a snack. So we never made it as far as we planned, but we still had a good time and enjoyed the views.

Sunday was also a nice day so we went to a little lake right by our house and walked around and Jacob enjoyed running around on one of the docks.

Then on Monday afternoon we decided to go downtown to check out Capital Hill which we had also never really stopped to do and also wanted to do a little shopping down at the mall.

So this was also the first time Jacob rode face forward in his new carseat. I was pretty sure Jacob was over 20 pounds but I had never turned his seat to face forward but since we took Luke's car it was easier to put his seat in this way- anyway, can you tell by his face how excited he was?! He was so happy to sit up like a big boy and look out the window- he loved it!

So we went downtown on Memorial Day thinking at least something should be going on, and I must say I was a little disappointed. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but since DC always has something going on I was a little surprised to see Denver was actually very quiet that day and there was hardly anyone walking around... oh well!
Here's the capital building

Jacob and I walked up the steps

bad picture of us but any is better than none I guess...

With the hot weather Jacob also enjoyed some time in his kiddie pool. I thought this picture was funny because he was concentrating real hard and trying to figure out why he couldn't grab the water, haha.

And in my little bits of spare time lately I've been doing a couple little things around the house to give it a more summery feel. I made two of these pillows here- I'm sure you can guess which ones I made haha. Anyway, I love my new summery pillows and the nice weather we've been having! Even better when Luke and I get out and do something fun together!
