Jacob Turns 3!

First, I just need to say- it is really hard to sit down and blog when it has been so nice out this month! I'm happy that it has started to feel like spring and we've really tried to take advantage of it, so here's what we've been up to- most of which has just been lots of fun stuff to spoil Jacob during his birthday month! (Who says you only need to celebrate a birthday in one day?)
And I'm not kidding when I say Jacob's been spoiled- so far this month Luke has taken Jacob to 3 Nuggets games and an Avalanche hockey game! Luke has gotten tons of free tickets from work, and Jacob has had so much fun going to all these games with his dad!

Then Luke's dad came in one weekend and we went down to the Art Museum in Denver and Jacob got to play with some things at the museum there.
And now that it's been warm enough to go back, we've headed down to the zoo a couple times, and I'm trying to enjoy it while we can since my pass expires at the end of the month! The first time back at the zoo, we invited my friend Natalie and her girls and I just loved seeing Jacob and Jane run around holding hands the whole time- they are so adorable!

Jacob loves the fish the most and he especially liked this yellow one. We also learned that Jacob does not like merry-go-rounds! While he looks ok in this picture, that was before it started moving and he was screaming so bad I had to hold both kids the rest of the ride...

Then one night we had some coupons to redeem free Krispy Kreme doughnuts, so we let Jacob pick one out- he got the extra sprinkles, yum. And the awesome hats!

Now on to Jacob's birthday weekend! Friday night we took Jacob swimming at the Rec center for the first time, and he had a lot of fun! There was a lazy river, a crab that he could slide on, and a wave pool. And a hot tub, but that was more for my enjoyment.
Too bad Blake was not a big fan of the water, he didn't seem to like getting his diaper wet, haha.
On Saturday we went to Jane's birthday party, which sort of doubled as Jacob's birthday party. I figured as long as he went to a party he wouldn't really know the difference, he was just excited to go. And Luke was nice enough to watch Blake so that I could enjoy my time with Jacob at the party.
First, they had all the kids plant their own flower seeds which they could take home.
Then they each gave the leprechaun a high five- it was St. Patrick's Day after all. Then the kids just ran outside for a bit, it was another beautiful day!

Jacob hanging out with his girl ;)
Poor Jane was a little sad at the moment, but they looked so cute just sitting together, and Jacob tried making her feel better :)

Then it was time for presents and it was actually neat that they did a white elephant exchange so everyone brought a present, and everyone was able to take a gift home! Jacob got a neat clock shape sorter, he really likes it!

And then the moment Jacob had been waiting all day for-cake! He loved that it was a Yo Gabba Gabba cake- he had just discovered this show on Netflix a week before and he's been crazy about it since!
Everyone sang happy birthday to Jane, Jacob and another boy whose birthday was that day too and then the two of them blew out the candles :)
Then the kids ended with a pinata and they each got to take home a balloon too. Jacob had a great time, maybe next year I'll finally be ready to throw my own party for him!

And here's a quick picture of the boys together on St. Patrick's Day wearing their green. Then on Sunday March 18 was Jacob's 3rd birthday! He had been counting down to his big day for awhile and was so excited to tell everyone that he was now 3. When we went to church that day he told all his nursery friends that it was his birthday and that he was 3 and he even would go on to explain that "mom is 27 and dad is 29". Haha he made sure everyone knew how old we all were, it was pretty cute, and somewhat embarrassing at the same time. And sometimes he'd joke with us and say, "I'm 27 and mom is 3!" and then he'd laugh hysterically- we already have a little jokester on our hands!
After we had a macaroni and cheese dinner, Jacob got to open all his presents! I love how he seemed to appreciate each one- he'd gasp and say "oh wow" and then wanted to play with each new present before opening the next.

He did seem to like all of his presents, he got a lot of good stuff, and this wasn't even all of them. All these new toys have certainly kept him busy so far!

And then it was time for cake! Jacob watched me all day as I made my attempt at a Thomas the train cake- I know to some it may look sloppy but I was quite proud of my work!
It's funny that Jacob waited all day to eat his cake but once he blew out his candles all he wanted to do was go back and play with his new toys! Maybe we'll have to do the cake first from now on. That didn't stop us from eating it though- even Luke was able to enjoy a large unfrosted piece of cake.

And this is my new favorite picture! Although it's hard getting a good picture that captures Jacob, I love this picture because it shows how sweet and cute he really is! I love talking with him and laughing at all the funny crazy things he says, and I love to hear him laugh too- he has such a good sense of humor! I love how he's grown up so much lately and is brave to try new things, and am so proud of him for being potty trained! I love how he plays and interacts with Blake and I'm so glad they're already little friends. He may now be 3 but he's still my sweet little boy! I'm looking forward to him growing older and being able to do lots of new things this next year! We love you Jacob!

27 on the 27th

This year was my star birthday and I turned 27 on February 27th- I thought that was pretty neat! Other than that it was a pretty normal, low-key birthday. Since my birthday fell on a Monday this year, we celebrated the weekend before. Luke took me out to Maggiano's on Friday night for a nice dinner, and then on Saturday we went and did a little shopping so I could pick out some gifts. While we were out at the outdoor mall, it was actually a really nice day and so we took Jacob on the little train ride they have there that goes around the mall. He was very excited!

On Monday I just enjoyed a normal day with my boys, and Jacob sang Happy Birthday to me many times. Luke bought me a nice new winter coat, we ate some good old chocolate cake, and that was good enough for me! Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday!
