Jacob's 5th Birthday!

Jacob is now 5 years old! I caught a few quick pictures of him on the morning of his birthday and I love how much older he looks here. He pulled out an old angry bird shirt for the day since we were having an angry bird birthday! We didn't do a big party this year but we tried to make it a special and fun day!
When Jacob woke up he came downstairs dressed like a king and then saw the angry bird (and pig) balloons and decorations I had out and he loved them and wanted to play with the balloons all day.
Later that morning we made little angry birds out of pom poms and the boys built cup towers and used their new angry birds to knock the piggies off- they loved their soft "baby birds" they called them.
For lunch we made a couple angry bird snacks- the three blue angry birds and pig snouts.
Then I took the boys (including the boy King who I watch twice a week now) and we went to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate- which was perfect because it was actually a cool and windy day so it was fun for the boys to get out and play and have fun together.

They did lots of rides and games together and they all had a great time! And then as soon as Luke got home later we opened presents right away, Jacob could hardly wait any longer! He always gets so nervous that I'm not going to get him all the presents he wants, but he seemed pleased with his load of presents!
Jacob got quite a few angry bird toys, several of which he picked out and made sure that I bought for him!
He's also recently gotten interested in Star Wars through his friends, so he was pretty excited to get a light saber too.
After presents, Jacob requested we go to McDonald's for dinner, and he had a fun time playing with his new favorite toy there too.

After dinner, we came home and had angry bird cake!
Jacob said he had a great birthday! So proud to have such a sweet 5 year old! He is such a helpful big brother and I love watching him learn and grow more each day!

My 29th Birthday

I had a wonderful birthday celebrating my last year in my 20's! Luckily, I thought ahead and switched my babysitting days so that I didn't need to watch an extra kid on my birthday, and I sent my boys to a friends house for a few hours so I could go shopping and have lunch with Luke! It was great!

Luke works a few minutes from a mall so I just met him there for lunch and I got Sarku Japan- I love that place! Then Luke and I each bought some new sunglasses then he went back to work while I took my time shopping through the mall. I got pretty much everything I was looking for and even stopped at one the makeup kiosks and the lady gave me a free little makeover- why not?

So I definitely had fun with my free time, but made sure to spend good time with my sweet boys too!

Jacob picked out this sweet card for me and then later I opened a few gifts and then showed off a few things I bought myself too :)

I made some rice and salmon for dinner and then we had cake. Chocolate cake, mmm.

Luke and I went out to dinner the next night to celebrate and since it happened to be Restaurant Week in Denver so we were able to go to Rodizio's for a great deal! Everything was really good, it was such a special treat!
The next few days my birthday continued as I got a few more presents- a couch I ordered for our basement which is also a sofabed and surprisingly comfy and then my sisters ordered me some shoes straight from Taiwan and I love them!
And after years of wanting some, Luke and I also just bought some bikes and a bike trailer. We got everything practically new off Craigslist, and we've had so many warm days that we're excited to have something new to do together as a family!
Anyway, it was a great birthday, which is good, because my mom tells me that after 29 you don't age, so I'm glad I at least was able to enjoy this one ;)
