Blake's preschool class got to go trick or treating around the YMCA building, and had a little party and sang some songs. I wish I got a video, but the whole time they sang their second song Blake wouldn't sing because he instead kept tattling on the girl on the far right that she wasn't standing on the line. Everyone just laughed, ha.
Blake was too scared to touch our pumpkins so Jacob helped dig out the pumpkins and they both wanted happy silly faces this year.
Ha it seems Jacob's pumpkin has the two teeth he's been missing!
We got the pumpkins carved a few days before Halloween- just in time for my mom to come visit for an extended weekend!
Just for fun, here is a collage of my mom, me, and Ava each at 5 months old and together once my mom came to town!
Maybe it's hard to tell with the sunglasses, but I'd say at least as babies there is such a strong resemblance! Props to my mom for remembering we needed to take this picture of Ava to carry on the 5 month tradition! The night before Halloween we went to our ward Chili cook off and Trunk or Treat and the kids got dressed up in their costumes- in case you couldn't tell Ava was Super Baby :)
The boys really enjoyed trunk or treating too. Blake had actually just started to lose his voice that day so as we went around to say "trick or treat" instead he would just say "I lost my voice!" in this squeaky little chipmunk voice. It was so cute he still got candy anyway.
Since Halloween was on Saturday we got to celebrate downtown and enjoy the festivities on the same day. It was fun to walk around the shops and get candy, and the boys also enjoyed participating in the pumpkin roll!
It was a little crowded but fun to experience Halloween in a new town, and run into some familiar faces along the way too. Luckily the weather wasn't too cold and not too bad for trick or treating that night either!
Although the boys did mention missing being able to trick or treat in our old neighborhood (where the homes are a little closer, they would run into school friends, our neighbors would do haunted houses, and fire-pits with hot chocolate and cider) they were still very anxious to walk around the new neighborhood too. And this is a blurry picture- but we love their poses- ready to go!
Luke and I took the boys out trick or treating together and my mom stayed with Ava and passed out candy for us! Here's a few pictures of Ava dressed up that day and in her costume again that night!
The boys got a surprising amount of candy in our neighborhood! I'm not sure how Blake even seemed to get more than Jacob, because Blake is so stubborn he was even turning away candy! No seriously. We had a few neighbors open their door only to find Blake punching his older brother because he didn't let him ring the doorbell first! Blake would stomp away without even taking candy... but it seems like he got plenty anyway. So even though that behavior was not encouraged, it was pretty entertaining!
So yea we enjoyed our Halloween weekend, and yes my mom was still visiting! One day we went shopping and then we stopped by Saratoga Lake too. It had warmed up just a bit while we were there and it was especially beautiful with all the fall trees- the pictures hardly do it justice! On my mom's last day we met Luke for lunch at the Saratoga Spa State Park and we were blessed with another warm day (that whole week was amazing fall weather!). It was the first time I had ever walked around the back and realized there was a beautiful river and trails- I'm so excited to explore it more! But it was fun discovering it with my mom and enjoying the awesome fall weather and colors and the quiet peacefulness of the park. Though I'm sure in the summer this place must be a hit.
Anyway, it was a fun visit and I hope to have more visits from family soon! We're slowly learning all the fun things that our town has to offer and see!
