The Beginning of our Summer!

April was a really busy month but so was May! On Saturdays from April-May Jacob was back on a soccer team. He missed a few games and practices with our vacations but he had fun. Sometimes he's still aloof on the field but when he tried hard he did really well, made contact with the ball, and made at least one goal and a few assists. Anyway, we were just glad he had fun and did his best, though we'll probably take a break for awhile and see what he's interested in next year.
Over Mother's Day weekend, Shannon- our old babysitter and friend, was back in town and ended up staying with us for a few days. And even though she was sick her whole visit, it was fun spending time with her! We keep saying we need to go visit her family in Seattle someday soon!
Another thing we always like to do mid-May is attend the Thorntonfest across the street. We had a fun time doing the kid stuff with the boys and walking around this year.
We weren't sure if this was a "real stormtrooper" but Jacob knew he wanted a picture with him anyway. The boys also always love riding the little train. (And I love that everything is free!)
They also found a few hands on stations they really liked.
I also stopped at a nail station and got a sample, so Jacob took a mustache sample too, ha.
Luke was in Wisconsin for business one week in May, so I tried to do fun things with the boys, like going for bike rides, McDonalds, and meeting friends at parks and things to get us outside.
A lot of times we are just hanging out at home though. For awhile the boys were playing this game they call Toy Chest. Blake will sit in a laundry basket and Jacob will fetch him any and every toy in the house. This keeps them both occupied and happy for so long, it's an awesome game!
And on the hot days we do what we can to keep cool! And yes, I'm also am still watching this little boy King twice a week. We try to do a fun little craft, or "project" when he comes over so that's fun for the kids too.
The boys were very excited that once Luke got home from his business trip, it was Memorial Weekend, so that meant camping in the backyard! With young kids this is the easiest way to go, and they love it!
We had a simple dinner, made smores, then put the kids to sleep. Then Luke and I went back inside and watched a movie, ha. Don't worry, we still all slept in the tent. That's good enough camping for me!
We also finally took our boys to go see the Lego Movie and they loved it! I thought it was pretty funny, but Luke didn't like the way it ended, ha.
We also got Jacob back into swimming lessons, and he'll also do one more session next month. He was excited to have a guy teacher this time, and it was good to see Jacob progress from last year. He loved using those goggles and going underwater nearly the entire lesson every day.
Here's some more pictures from his last day of lessons, which is the fun day, and he was swimming in the lazy river and having fun going down the slide.
And here are some adorable pictures of Jacob and his favorite girl Ava. These two are just the cutest together and are such a perfect match for each other. And their younger siblings Blake and Aria are like a little Jacob and Ava- too cute!
These guys always have fun getting together and I love that we get to play and do so many fun things in the summertime! And we're just getting started! Looking forward to even more fun this summer!
