Jacob's 4th Birthday!

How is it already March?! This year has already been flying by, but luckily I started planning Jacob's birthday early this year. He's never had a real birthday party and wanted one this year so we decided to go with a Toy Story theme. I had so much fun planning Toy Story themed games and getting everything ready to make his day special.

Jacob invited 4 friends and when they each came they got a cowboy hat and sheriff badge like Woody, except the girls got red hats like Jessie.
For our first game I made cutouts so we could play Pin the Face on Mr. Potato Head! The kids each got to pick which piece they wanted to do and they all thought that was fun.
In the end our potato head looked pretty silly, we loved it!
Then I told the kids that army men toys were spying on our party (just like they did at Andy's birthday party in the movie) so the kids got cups and collected the army men in the other room, which actually took them quite a while to find them all!
Then I presented the kids with The Claw! There was candy inside and they each got turns using the claw to pull out as much candy as they could. They actually weren't very good at using the claw so some needed help, and by the end of the party most were upside down reaching their arms in for more. Either way, it was a hit!
At that point, the kids got to take peeks at their goodie bags. We got lots of little Toy Story toys- Jacob's favorite being a tiny barrel of monkeys- he was so excited to show them to his friends.
Then was time for the birthday cake- complete with Toy Story figures on top.
Then Jacob got to open his presents, all of which he really liked. His friend Ava from preschool (below) got him this cute cape and mask that he's practically worn nonstop since. These two are so cute together!
We actually got through everything pretty quick so we tried a game of musical chairs to our Toy Story music, but they didn't quite get the hang of it. It was pretty funny to watch though. All in all, it was an awesome party and I think everyone had a fun time.
A cute picture of Jacob in his new outfit from Grandma, perfect for St. Patrick's Day on Sunday. Then Monday was finally his birthday! We celebrated all weekend so Jacob was excited to finally be four. That day I had a little extra birthday shopping to do so he got to play with his best bud Levi for a bit then I took the boys to McDonalds for a birthday lunch.
That night we had spaghetti for dinner, as requested by Jacob, then finally got to open presents. He got a couple new toys, games, movie, and equipment/clothes he needed for his upcoming soccer games and swimming lessons. He said he loved all his presents!
Whew, what a fun birthday weekend! Jacob said he loved it all, so I'm glad we could make it special for him. He is such a special boy, and growing up so fast! I'm sure this next year will be a busy but fun one!
He's already enjoying preschool and learning a lot there, and looking forward to starting soccer and swimming lessons in April. He likes to get out of the house and keep busy, so hopefully it won't be too much for him. He's also starting to hardly take naps anymore, and says he has too much work to do so he can't sleep. And although Blake often tries to annoy his older brother, Jacob is probably more patient with him than the rest of us and they usually play well together. Jacob is good at making friends and I love to see him laugh when interacting with others, or making them laugh. He is such a character, and although sometimes a bit wild, Luke and I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful son! Happy birthday Jacob!
